"Talking at the Speed of Light" is an educational journey for all ages! The group will meet at 5 PM every other Thursday to learn and practice American Sign Language. Between the meetings, participants can use the library's Rocket Sign Language app at home. Then all can practice together when meeting again.

Are you ready to start your interactive journey toward American Sign Language (ASL) fluency? Let us be your guide! We’ll start by learning the fundamentals of ASL and the differences between sign languages around the world.

You’ll learn a bit about the Deaf community, get some tips on how to start signing clearly and effectively, and even learn some basic signs.

Our experienced instructor will guide you through each step, providing hands-on demonstrations and personalized feedback. Learn how to make a small project and then choose a larger one. Consider coming into the library's maker space to practice between scheduled sessions. Use our donated fabrics to practice and create your project(s). Participants need to commit to all four dates for the series for which they register:

**Fridays at 11 AM starting on September 6th (other classes on 9/20, 10/4 & 10/18) - FULL
**Mondays at 10 AM starting on October 7th (other classes on 10/21, 11/4 & 11/18) - FULL
**Tuesdays at 10 AM starting on October 8th (other classes on 10/22, 11/5 & 11/19)

FOSTL Meeting

The Friends of Springfield Town Library (FOSTL) was organized as a Vermont non-profit corporation in 1989 to support the Library. It focuses public attention on the Library, encourages the use of its resources and services, provides additional resources and services not funded through tax support, and encourages and receives gifts and bequests to benefit the Library.

Membership is open to everyone interested in supporting the Library. Through fundraising activities, membership dues, and donations, FOSTL is able to provide exceptional extra support for the Library every year.
